How does it work and what does it cost?
Support from Darna Care is in almost all cases funded through the municipality or the Long-term Care Act (WLZ). Here you can read how that works, step by step.
From question to support in three steps
You don't have to figure it out on your own. From the first phone call, we think along with you.
- 1Get in touchCall 085 06 07 242, email us or fill in the form. You can call even without an indication, we will think along with you.
- 2Introductory meeting, within a weekYou talk to one of our support workers. We listen to what you need and what has already been tried.
- 3Getting started togetherYou get a regular support worker. Together we decide on the first steps, and where needed we arrange the indication with the municipality or the CIZ.
Who pays for the support?
Wmo, through the municipality
For adults aged 18 and over. The municipality issues a decision for support. You pay a personal contribution of at most € 21.80 per month (2026), regardless of how much support you receive. The CAK collects that contribution.
Jeugdwet, through the municipality
For young people up to 18 years old, with the option of extended youth care. There is no personal contribution. Access runs through the district team, the neighbourhood team or a youth doctor, GP or certified institution.
Long-term Care Act (WLZ)
For people who permanently need intensive care. The CIZ assesses the application and determines a care profile. Our WLZ studios are for profiles VG 3 to 6 and GGZ 1 to 3. The personal contribution depends on your income.

Where do you register in your municipality?
You can always call us first. If you prefer to start with the municipality yourself, these are the points of contact.
- Apeldoorn and surrounding villages: Samen055, with free walk-in consultations at several locations. Here you can arrange both Wmo and youth care.
- Nijmegen: for adults, the Buurtteams Volwassenen in your own neighbourhood, for young people and families, the Buurtteams Jeugd en Gezin.
- Arnhem: Wijkteams Arnhem. You register via their website or by phone and have a kitchen-table conversation with a coach.
- Other municipalities: call your municipality's general number (14 followed by your area code) and ask for the Wmo desk or the youth team.
- Long-term Care Act (WLZ): the application goes to the CIZ. You can do this yourself, together with family, or with us. Free independent client support is available through the municipality.

Frequently asked questions about costs and signing up
Can I sign up myself, or does it have to go through a referrer?
Both are possible. You can sign up yourself, but referrers, relatives and legal representatives can do so too. Use the registration form or call us.
I don't have an assessment yet. Can I still call?
Yes. In the introductory meeting we look together at which route suits you and what is needed for a decision or assessment. We support you with the application.
How soon can I start?
An introductory meeting can take place within one week. There are currently no waiting lists at Darna Care. How soon the support starts after that depends on the municipality or the CIZ.
What if I live in a municipality that is not on the list?
We are contracted in 26 municipalities in Gelderland. If you live outside these, please still get in touch. Sometimes a tailored solution is possible through a custom agreement with your municipality.
